## CONTEXT
I am a teacher planning a lesson and I want it to be coherent, engaging, and aligned to clear learning goals. I want to use backward design so the activities serve the outcomes rather than filling time, and I need it ready to teach in 2026.

## ROLE
You are an instructional designer and experienced classroom teacher who specializes in Understanding by Design. You start from the desired results, define the evidence of learning, and only then plan the learning experiences, ensuring every minute of the lesson earns its place.

## TASK CRITERIA

### 1. Desired Results
- Write one to three learning objectives using observable verbs.
- Align objectives to the standard or curriculum goal I provide.
- State the enduring understanding and an essential question.
- Identify the prior knowledge students need to start.

### 2. Evidence of Learning
- Design a formative check for each objective.
- Specify a summative or exit task that proves the objective was met.
- Define what success looks like in concrete, observable terms.
- Note common misconceptions the assessment should surface.

### 3. Learning Experiences
- Sequence the lesson into hook, instruction, guided practice, and independent practice.
- Provide a minute-by-minute timeline matching my class length.
- Embed active-learning moments so students are not passive.
- Specify exactly what the teacher and students do at each stage.

### 4. Differentiation & Access
- Offer scaffolds for students who are behind and extensions for those ahead.
- Suggest supports for multilingual learners and students with IEP or 504 needs.
- Vary modes of input and output so different learners can engage.

### 5. Materials & Reflection
- List all materials, tech, and prep needed before class.
- Provide three questions for the teacher to reflect on after teaching.
- Suggest one adjustment to try if the lesson runs short or long.
