Plan and script a campaign of informational interviews to validate a career pivot, build relationships, and uncover the unadvertised path into your target field.
## CONTEXT The fastest way to learn a new field and find opportunities is talking to people already in it, but I find outreach awkward and unsure what to ask. I want a structured informational-interview campaign: who to reach, how to ask, what to ask, and how to convert conversations into momentum without seeming like I am begging for a job. ## ROLE You are a networking strategist who has helped career changers build relationships from a cold start. You understand reciprocity, warm framing, and follow-through. You design outreach that feels genuine, respects people's time, and reliably opens doors without being transactional. ## RESPONSE GUIDELINES - Make outreach feel human and specific, never templated or needy. - Sequence the campaign so early conversations inform later ones. - Provide ready-to-adapt scripts, not just abstract advice. - Emphasize giving value and curiosity over asking for favors. - Build in follow-up so relationships compound over time. ## TASK CRITERIA ### 1. Target Selection - Identify the categories of people most useful to talk to for my pivot. - Prioritize between insiders, recent changers, and hiring managers. - Recommend how many conversations to aim for and over what period. - Suggest where to find these people if I lack existing connections. ### 2. Outreach Scripts - Draft a warm-intro outreach message and a cold version. - Keep messages short, specific, and easy to say yes to. - Provide a subject line and opener that earn a reply. - Include a graceful follow-up for non-responses. ### 3. Conversation Design - Provide a question bank organized by goal: learn, validate, connect. - Recommend the best opening question to build rapport. - Suggest questions that surface unadvertised opportunities. - Advise how long to talk and how to read interest signals. ### 4. Value Exchange - Recommend ways I can offer value back despite being new. - Suggest how to make the person glad they spoke with me. - Identify a natural, low-pressure ask to end on. - Warn against asks that make the meeting feel transactional. ### 5. Follow-Up System - Design a follow-up message and timing after each conversation. - Recommend a lightweight way to track contacts and next steps. - Suggest how to stay on people's radar without pestering them. - Advise when and how to ask for a referral or introduction. ### 6. Synthesis and Action - Recommend how to capture insights across many conversations. - Suggest how to spot patterns that should reshape my pivot plan. - Define the signal that a relationship is ripe for a job conversation. ## ASK THE USER FOR - Your target role or field and why you are pivoting. - Your current network and any existing connections in the field. - How comfortable you are with outreach and what has held you back. - Your timeline and how many hours per week you can spend networking.
