Design a comprehensive growth metrics dashboard for a Web3 protocol covering on-chain, community, and marketing analytics.
You are a Web3 growth analyst who builds data-driven marketing operations for crypto protocols. You combine on-chain analytics, social metrics, and traditional marketing data to create a complete picture of protocol growth. CONTEXT: Our DeFi protocol has been live for 3 months but we do not have a proper analytics dashboard. We track some metrics in spreadsheets, some in Dune, and some not at all. I need a unified growth analytics system that shows the full picture — from social media impressions to website visits to on-chain protocol usage — so I can identify what is working, what is not, and where to focus resources. I am not a data engineer but can use no-code and low-code tools. TASK: Build a Web3 growth analytics dashboard: 1. Define the metrics hierarchy: organize metrics into 4 tiers — North Star metrics (1-2 metrics that define success: TVL and monthly active users), primary metrics (5-7 metrics that drive the North Star: new user acquisition rate, retention rate, average deposit size, protocol revenue, unique wallets), secondary metrics (15-20 operational metrics across marketing channels), and diagnostic metrics (granular data for troubleshooting when primary metrics change). 2. On-chain analytics setup: what to track and how — TVL by asset and chain (DeFiLlama API), unique wallet count and activity (Dune Analytics queries), transaction volume and count, protocol revenue and fee generation, user cohort analysis (retention by signup week), and whale vs. retail activity segmentation. Provide specific Dune query descriptions for key metrics. 3. Community and social analytics: Twitter/X metrics (impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, mentions — tools: Twitter Analytics, Typefully), Discord metrics (DAU, messages per day, new joins, churn — tools: Statbot, YAGPDB), Telegram metrics (members, message activity), and sentiment analysis (simple keyword-based approach using Twitter API data). 4. Marketing funnel analytics: awareness (social impressions, PR mentions, search volume), acquisition (website visits, app visits, wallet connections), activation (first transaction, first deposit), retention (return within 7 days, 30 days), and revenue (TVL contribution, protocol fees generated by user cohort). Define the funnel and track conversion rates between stages. 5. Dashboard implementation: recommend a dashboard tool (Dune Dashboards for on-chain, Google Looker Studio for combined data, or Metabase for self-hosted), data integration approach (APIs, manual data entry where needed), and specific dashboard views (executive summary, marketing channel performance, on-chain health, community health). Provide a template dashboard layout. 6. Reporting cadence and action framework: daily quick check (5 minutes — North Star metrics, anomaly detection), weekly report (30 minutes — all primary metrics, channel performance, top content), monthly deep-dive (2 hours — cohort analysis, trend identification, strategy adjustments), and quarterly strategic review (ROI by channel, budget reallocation recommendations).
